Deepavali in January with CIC#511

Namaste everyone

Hope and wishing everyone is fine and doing good. Today I am sharing a festive card with you all. Yes I am making cards for Deepavali which will be in November this year. I thought of making one card each month for Deepavali so that by the end of october I will be having few cards in hand to send out.

So i combined this thought with Cupcake inspiration challenge #511 which is colour inspiration and its so festive. Lets get started.

I kept the card simple with no stamping. I used #dressmycraft paper pack and die from them. I chose few pattern paper strps from the pack, arranged and tore edges to give distress look. Matted with gold mirror cardstock and vellum. Foam mounted thi panel on the red/maron card base. And added KALASH at the centre and my card is ready.

Gold is so hard to photograph.
Isn’t it an awesome festive colour combination?

Thank you for joining do let me know your thoughts on my take of cic#511.

See you again with next post.

Namaste everyone..

Swapna here for HLS stencil challenge. I am so exited to be back with HLS and with Stencil team. So this space will be filled with all my stencil experiments for a while. So lets get started. The challenge is ANYTHING GOES with stencil.

Initially I thought of taking different stencil every month and play with new technique every month. Then I thought of challenging myself a bit more and adding an Indian festival with my each post.

So I will be briefing a little bit about the festival on which the card set is made.

This is month of January and during this month around 14 or 15th comes Makar Sankranti or Lohri (There were actually 5 calenders which Hindus fallowed and this is the only festival which celebrated by the Solar calendar) . This is actually the time of season change from winter to summer, when sun rays start falling directly on Tropic of cancer from Tropic of Capricorn. This festival is celebrated by sharing Gingelly seeds and Jaggery, gingelly seeds to nourish the body which has lost a lot of moisture during winter and jaggery to cutdown the bitterness of gingelly seeds. Jaggery or Sugar cane is in particular as its the crop of this time.

So coming to my card. The colours are bright to depict Sun. The design in stencil depicts my way of telling earth movement and change from Winter to Summer. Sentiment says Good wishes in Sanskrit. I made one more card with same sentiment but in Kannada sentiment.

Now comes the second festival/event which is related to this Astronomical phenomenon. Sankranti marks the process of change(as earth is a huge body it takes some days for it) and end of it marks RATH SAPTAMI, Ratha means Chariot Saptami means 7th day of the month, generally we say Sun climbed chariot which means beginning of Summer . Its on 19th of February.

Coming to my card now, actually its my favorite among 3. The center image is heat embossed and it depicts sun being supreme and the matted label depicts chariot. The embossed background says transition.

I hope you liked my little effort in using my craft supplies to celebrate festivals. If you liked this effort and wish me to continue this series please let me know in comments. I will try my best to do so.

I have a small giveaway,I will be giving away these 4 stencils from CRAFTANGLES (hndmd) to a lucky winner who will be drawn randomly from comments. Namely Confetti background, ornaments, raindrops, rainbows and clouds. This giveaway is not sponsored from anyone.

Namaste everyone. .

Wish everyone is safe and healthy. This pandemic situation is so difficult to handle but thank god crafting is there in my life to keep me on track.

Coming to my today’s card. Its a CAS card using Mft’s Book worm stamp set. I am hoarding this set from so long and mft challenge pushed me to think a little and use it other way.

I made simple one layer card using two images from the set. I stamped image with black ink and coloured with Zig marker. Masked the image and used small brick stencil to blend ink, used fired brick distress ink. Added a light wash of hickory smoke for the ground. Added sentiment from another mft set Some bunny I love.

I stamped one more image inside from same set.

Here is closer look at the card front.

Happy birthday – Sss

Namaste. . Swapna here with a birthday tag I made for our monthly collaboration event on IG. If you are unaware about it then please visit my IG for more details. Its fun event.

Coming to my post today. This month the technique we chose was STAMP KISSING. I always wanted to try but never did, i had this sss set called Floral bookmark from ages so thought will combine both for this post as the florals are all solid images.

We moved to a costal area from a cold area 2years back so most of inkpads are still packed. It was nightmare to me when i opened few of my inkpads for the technique. All inkpads were leaking and i kept cleaning inkpads everyday to get a single proper stamped image.

I should admit that I wasted alot of ink in this process. Its so heart breaking. But thats how it went. At last i did manage to get a few images. I die cut them with co-ordinating dies.

The tag die is from Avery elle, i glued few lawn fawn pp scraps at the bottom. And mounted my floral arrangement on it. Sentiment is from another all time favourite set of mine from Sss. I am planning to make more tags like these now.

By the way I made two cards with the remaining stamped images. Do cgeck out my IG in upcoming days if you are interested.
